For many moons, women have been pitted against each other in a societal Battle Royale over status and men. As time passed, these battles began to include money, jobs, and internet wars over the “right” way to be a parent. It’s only in recent years that women have worked toward bucking that piece of the patriarchy and unifying with other women. It’s no accident that the #MeToo movement is happening now, in this shifting sensibility. Now the question is how can women uplift each other and how do we teach young women not to see each other as competition? Finding herself suddenly sick, 40-something Kelly asks Samantha to move into her house, but this is just the beginning… or the end. Told in reverse chronology, STEPS TO HOME tells the story of Kelly's and Samantha’s decades old friendship and – despite hardships and relationships - how two people so vastly different could come to be the most important person in each other’s lives.
